Flintham Gardening Club Workshops
Flintham Gardening Club and Friends explore Flintham Museums 150 Year connection with the elements
As a part of the ongoing Museumaker Project with Flintham Village Museum Superblue has been working with Flintham Village School's Gardening Club and friends. The two day workshop was successfully run in the local village hall on July 31st and August 1st. Working with Sue, Fiona, Annick and all the children the workshops were designed to explore many different ways we can record weather and remember weather especially linkinh with the 120 year old collection of postcards found at the museum.
The workshops are part of a museum project about the weather, past, present and future, thanks to a lottery grant from Awards for All. The children were asked to explore the mill pond adjacent to the museum to find objects which are effected wind, rain, sunshine. Objects which spark personal memories of the weather were broaught together to influence the subject matter for a whole new range of postcards describing the weather. The work generated over the two days will be used to create a new postcard for the museum, adding another aspect to the weather garden project.
We would also like to thank Bliss Sound Direct for providing us with the excellent recordable postcards that we all had so much fun with during the workshops
